Johnny Mabane from Bela-Bela said Heritage Day is always a special day for him, especially as far as cooking is concerned.

“I have always loved traditional food and love cooking it well,” he said.

He said he loved Mandela’s favourite dish, mqushu (samp cooked with beans), potjiekos cabbage stew, and tripe-stuffed steamed bread.

Portia Lulu Tjia, a fashion designer, said heritage day has always been “vibey” for her as a fashion designer.

She said apart from traditional cuisine, she loved celebrating Heritage Month in style, in terms of the latest in fashion wear.

“I love the beauty of cultural dressing from different cultures, but I will wear my special attire on the day,” she added.

Aubrey Sithole said Heritage Day is always a day of recognising traditional culture.

“I love eating traditional food at a local restaurant. My favourite dish is tripe and spinach in it,” he added.
