Mixed reaction to spanking ruling

Mother of two, Kgomotso Poto, said the ruling on spanking was a tricky affair as she herself grew up being spanked for wrongdoing.

“I just believe times change and as hard as it might be as parents, we must just talk sense into kids no matter how naughty they are,” she said.

Masenya Mashego, a socialite and club circuit deejay, said he still believes in spanking children.

“This is the only way you can discipline naughty children,” he said.

Mashego said however, parents needed to explain fully why a child is being punished.

Melita Dialetsa, a mother of one, said children will get totally out of control.

“Government can’t tell me how to discipline my child. This is discipline, not abuse,” she said.
