New bishop for Bela-Bela African Episcopal Church

Members of the African Methodist Episcopal Church’s Hickman chapel in Bela-Bela gathered for their annual conference.

The church is under the leadership of Reverend Louisa Makhura and Father David Makhura.

Well over 800 members gathered at the Bela-Bela Multipurpose Centre in Extension 6 for the annual Mangena Maake Mokone conference.

The day was also dedicated to welcome the church’s new Bishop Earl McCloud Jr., and to take note of the nationwide of a church delegation to attend the world general conference in the US.

The conference is scheduled to take place at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida, from 8 to 15 July 2020.

The legendary Reverend Mangena Maake Mokone is one of the founders of the church.

He was born in Sekhukhune in 1851.
