Schools continued to be hive of activity in 2019

Ushering in the year 2019 were the typical pictures of weeping first entrant Grade 1 learners.

The month of January also had the #100KidsToVarsity Initiative kick in, to assist matriculants who could not make the cut during the previous year’s final examinations.

In February the town of Bela-Bela had the honour to welcome Public Works Minister, Thulas Nxesi, who “adopted” Maope High School to assist them in terms of resources.

It was on a sad note that in April The BEAT family and broader community mourned the passing of veteran educator and journalist, Emma Masemola.

In May Bela-Bela’s GoldRush Bingo donated school shoes to needy learners.

November was a busy month for many of the schools in the region, with male and female learners dazzling in their matric dance haute couture.
