New constituency head for Waterberg South

Lindy Wilson replaces Desirée van der Walt, MP, who will be working in the Mopani district henceforth.

Jacques Smalle, DA Provincial Leader in Limpopo, writes:

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is pleased to announce that Lindy Wilson, MP, has been assigned to the Waterberg South DA constituency.

Wilson replaces Desirée van der Walt, MP, who will be working in the Mopani district henceforth.

This comes after the Provincial Executive Committee of the DA in Limpopo made several changes to the leadership structures in several constituencies earlier in May in order to prepare for the 2019 national and provincial elections.

Wilson joined the DA in 2010 as the Constituency Operations Manager in the Mopani District. She became a ward councillor in Polokwane during 2012, after she successfully contested an ANC ward during a by-election. In the same year she was elected as the chairperson at the Provincial Congress.

She served as the provincial election manager during the 2014 national and provincial elections at which time the DA increased its electoral support to just under 95 000 votes.

Wilson became a Member of Parliament in 2014 and served as the deputy spokesperson for Social Development where she led the fight in the SASSA debacle against Minister Bathabile Dlamini.

Mmusi Maimane, Federal Leader of the DA, recently appointed her as the deputy spokesperson for health and she has in a short period of time uncovered serious maladministration and medical negligence within this department.

Wilson is passionate about the poor and vulnerable and is determined to stand up for those who have been forgotten.

During the 2017 provincial congress, Wilson was elected as deputy chairperson for Limpopo. She is happily married to Brian with five beautiful children and three grandchildren.
She is looking forward to enhance the DA’s relationship with the community and all stakeholders and has an open door policy.

The Democratic Alliance in Limpopo is also delighted to announce the nomi-nation of Edward Aschendorf as our ward 9 candidate for the upcoming by-election in Bela-Bela.

Aschendorf has been a member of the DA since 2008 and is currently employed at GKB as a Community Liaison Officer. He has been an active member of the party and activist of Ward 9 in Bela-Bela. He is also very involved and a respected member of his community. He is currently a ward committee member for Ward 9, serves on the School Governing Body (SGB) of Spa Park Primary School and also a steering committee member for the Koppewaai informal settlement. He embodies our values of freedom, fairness, opportunity and diversity and shares the desire of the DA to bring quality service delivery to the people of ward 9 in Bela-Bela.

The DA has confidence in Aschendorf and believe he is the right candidate to bring improvement to the lives of the people of Ward 9 Bela-Bela and to keep holding the ANC led municipality accountable.
