Vhembe-based Benny’s Sports Development Academy have won the Limpopo leg of the 2018 under-12 Danone Nations Cup, and is ready to compete in the national finals.
Vhembe-based Benny’s Sports Development Academy have won the Limpopo leg of the 2018 under-12 Danone Nations Cup, and is ready to compete in the national finals.
The youngsters beat Kgagudi Primary School in the finals in Polokwane last Saturday 2 June.
The academy have now booked a place in national finals, where it was hoped it would emulate the class of 2016, which won the national title and represented the country at the world finals in France, where they finished 16th.
In 2015 the academy also made it to the national finals.
The other Limpopo finalists were Bela-Bela’s Mmamakwa Primary School, Letjatji Primary School from Capricorn, Miragoma Primary School from Mopani and Kgagudi Primary School from Sekhukhune.
The local youngsters gave it their best shot, but ultimately suffering a 2-1 loss to Benny’s Sports Development Academy.
During the early stages of the tournament, Mmamakwa Primary School beat Miragoma Primary School 1-0, and went on to beat Kgagudi Primary School 4-5 on penalties.
Mbishi Mokwena has been the head coach at Benny’s Sports Development Academy in 2015 and 2016.
