VIDEO: Suspect arrested after foiled burglary

The authorities gained access to the house and after a thorough search, found the suspect hiding under a couch and he was arrested.

Gunshots rang out early on Wednesday morning, 20 June in Bela-Bela when members of the Community Safety Forum (CPF), Galven Security and the police were in pursuit of a suspected housebreaker.

While on the run, the suspect gained entry to a house in Van Staden Street, right across from the Warmbaths Bowls Club, by breaking a window and climbing inside the premises.

Luckily the family living in the house was not home at that time. The authorities gained access to the house and after a thorough search, found the suspect hiding under a couch and he was arrested, The Post was told.

According to police the suspect may be linked to other break-in crimes that had recently taken place in the area. The suspect is due to appear in the Bela-Bela magistrate’s court soon.
