The DA continued to bring in its political heavyweights to drum up support for the party ahead of Bela-Bela’s Ward 9 by-elections on Tuesday 17 July.
A line-up of some of the most recognisable leaders campaigned in the town’s strategic areas of Spa Park and Koppewaai last Saturday 7 July.
The visiting entourage included Gauteng provincial leader, John Moodey, Limpopo leader Jacques Smalle and Modimolle-Mookgophong Mayor Marlene van Staden.
The campaign was also used to promote the DA’s broader national #1SAForAll initiative, ahead of the national elections in 2019.
The roadshow started with door-to-door engagements with several households, culminating in a community meeting.
Smalle told The Beat the line-up of political heavyweights was brought in to ensure the DA retained the hotly-contested ward which had been vacated by the resignation of Kobus van der Merwe.
