Boetie Maname sworn in

Incoming Bela-Bela ward councillor Boetie Maname was sworn in on the occasion of a council meeting on Tuesday 31 July.

Incoming Bela-Bela ward councillor Boetie Maname was sworn in on the occasion of a council meeting on Tuesday 31 July.

Judge Koena Matlala presided over the swearing in of the new councillor, who wrestled Ward 9 from the DA during recent by-elections.

Bela-Bela Local Councilor Speaker, Zakes Moeletsi, said the South African Local Government Association (Salga) would in the near future facilitate an induction, with the objective to
familiarise Councillor Maname with the workings of both council and the municipality.

In an interview ahead of his swearing in, Maname said the predominantly-Coloured constituency of Spa Park and Mountain View loved the ANC, but much more could be done to grant them a sense of belonging.

He replaces the DA’s Kobus van der Merwe, who has since retired from active politics.
