Mathabatha applauds ANC record at lekgotla

ANC Limpopo provincial chairperson Stanley Mathabatha repeated the widespread narrative that the ANC had improved the lives of ordinary people.
Speaking at the ANC provincial lekgotla held at Bela-Bela’s Klein Kariba Resort on Sunday 3 February, the premier urged ANC fieldworkers to remind people of the country’s achievements as they
hit the pre-election trail.
“There can be no doubt that for an example, in 1994, only 36% of the population had access to electricity and the situation was even worse in rural areas as only a mere 12 % enjoyed access to electricity,” he said.
Mathabatha said at the time the situation in terms of running water was also a challenge.
He warned ANC members that the 2019 general elections were likely to be fiercely-contested.
Mathabatha said during the 2016 local government elections the ANC had to fight against an opposition which drew sympathy from the media and opinion-makers.
