ANC activist Makgabo Boikhutso passes on

Veteran ANC activist and former local councillor Makgabo Rejoice Boikhutso was laid to rest in Bela-Bela midweek.

Veteran ANC activist and former local councillor Makgabo Rejoice Boikhutso was laid to rest in Bela-Bela midweek.

The lady, who was also a taxi operator, passed away at the age of 57 following a short illness.

Boikhutso was an ANC councillor for Ward 1 for a period of five years.

Bela-Bela Local Council Chief Whip Henrietta Ledwaba described the deceased as a “champion of the political struggle.”

Council speaker Zakes Moeletsi said Boikhutso joined the ANC in 1992.

She became a branch secretary at Spa Park in 1996, and later branch treasurer in 2016.

Boikhutso is also known as a dedicated educator, formerly with Bela-Bela High School.
