The GladAfrica Championship rookies were only promoted to the first division after being crowned the overall champions of the third-tier ABC Motsepe League last season.
JDR Stars FC is neck-and-neck at the summit of the league log standings, at four points, with the likes of veteran campaigners, Limpopo’s Tshakhuma Tsha Madzvvhandila FC.
The other teams at four points from two fixtures are Richard’s Bay FC and Ajax Cape Town FC.
JDR Stars FC next fixture is away to Royal Eagles FC at Chatsworth Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday 1 September.
Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC welcomes Moroka Swallows FC, a club which arrived with much hype into the ranks of the GladAfrica Championship.
The Dube Birds are at number 11 on the league log standings, with a single point from a draw and a defeat.
Mbombela United FC (9) have a home fixture against Moroka Swallows FC on Saturday 31 August.
In other fixtures, rookies Steenberg United FC (15) welcomes TS Sporting FC (12) on Saturday, while Free State Stars FC (5) is to visit Mbombela United FC (9) at Mpumalanga’s Kanyamazane
Stadium.
The most outstanding fixture for the weekend is one on Sunday between hosts University of Pretoria FC (7) and Jomo Cosmos FC (8).
