Security officer Alfred Makapane is switching between a baton and a pen with ease.
The Mokopane man of letters, who works as a security officer at the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court, is already working on his second anthology of poems.
His first collection, titled ‘Dikeletsö re di bona Bathong’ (Advise we get from people), was recently self-published into book form.

The anthology comprises of a total of 43 poems published during the year 2015.
Makapane said he had already written 31 poems for his next collection.
The Mokopane poet has also dabbled into performance praise poetry, and has been billed at weddings and many other events.
Makapane told The BEAT he enjoyed both his day job and switching to composing poetry in his spare time.
He said he was nudged into capturing his performance poetry into book form by the late Thobela FM presenter Manoko Semenya.
